Welcome! We hope you find us interesting and helpful; please leave a message
with us.
Harrow Green is in South Leytonstone, East London, and the parish covers the
Council ward of Cathall - which has recently completed a ten-year renovation
programme of an estate in the area closest to the Church. There is also
late-Victorian and Edwardian terraced housing. However we still have the
usual difficulties associated with urban priority areas. The population is
about 10,500.
We see the main tasks of the Church as joining in partnership with others to
help make the neighbourhood a positive and worthwhile place to live, and as
celebrating the love of God as seen in the ministry of Jesus.
There were originally two Anglican Churches here, which were amalgamated in
1974 to form the present Church. Our services are in the modern Catholic
tradition of the Church of England. Parish Communion is at 10-30 on Sundays,
with two regular mid-week Eucharists, Wednesdays at 10-30, and Thursdays at
7-30 pm. Morning Prayer is usually said at 8-30, and Evening Prayer at 5-00
pm, Mondays to Fridays.
There is a Roman Catholic Mass for local residents on Sundays at 9-00, and
the hall is used on a Sunday afternoon by a Pentecostalist Church, the
Spiritual Baptists. We are enthusiastic members of our local Group of
Churches.
The Church hall is well used by local groups during the week.
We have various ministerial and pastoral teams to take forward the work of
the Church, and are engaged in a Ministerial Training Programme for the
whole congregation. We are also planning the renovation of the external look
of the Church and grounds.
